4,000 killed while crossing into Europe via Aegean sea
The United Nations says some 4,000 migrants have already lost their lives in failed attempts to cross into Europe via the Aegean Sea.
Sabine Freizer, an advisor for the UN Women's Europe and Central Asia Regional Office, also noted that about 122,000 people have crossed into Greece from Turkey over the past two months alone. She added that the figure shows a significant growth compared with the same period last year. According to Freizer, about one million refugees have so far reached European countries. Most of them are women and children. Europe is facing its biggest refugee crisis since World War Two.
