Iran has celebrated a golden moment at the World Para Athletics Championships in the Indian capital, New Delhi, as Amirhossein Alipour claimed the country’s first gold medal of the competition.
Alipour won the men’s F11 shot put with a throw of 14.59 meters, setting a new championship record on his second attempt.
His teammate, Mehdi Olad, also delivered a strong performance, recording 14.23 meters on his third throw to secure the silver medal.
The result mirrored the podium at the Paris 2024 Paralympics, where both athletes had also stood side by side.
With these results, Iran’s tally at the championships now stands at one gold, one silver, and two bronze medals.
