Iran and Tajikistan strengthen sports ties with new Memorandum of Understanding

Iran and Tajikistan have initiated a new era of cooperation in sports and youth development by signing a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

The agreement signed on Monday evening aims to promote sports and youth exchanges between the two neighboring countries.

Zolfaqar Gol Ahmadzadeh, the head of the Youth and Sports Committee of the Republic of Tajikistan, visited Tehran at the invitation of Ahmad Donyamali, Iran's Minister of Sports and Youth Affaris.

Ahmadzadeh was accompanied by a delegation of sports and youth officials from Tajikistan, highlighting the significance of this diplomatic engagement.

During their discussions, Donyamali expressed keen interest in implementing collaborative programs, emphasizing Iran's desire to tap into Tajikistan's strengths in sports disciplines such as judo and boxing.

He acknowledged the valuable experiences that Tajikistan offers in youth development, which both nations can benefit from.

The signing of the MoU marked a pivotal step in formalizing their intentions to enhance cooperation. Both sides agreed to expedite the execution of the agreed-upon initiatives outlined in the memorandum, with a clear focus on fostering mutual benefits.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Ahmadzadeh extended an invitation for Donyamali to visit Tajikistan in the near future, reinforcing the commitment to deepen the bilateral relationship.

Donyamali stated, "Our approach is aligned with one of the nation's top policies, which is to create new conditions for cooperation with neighboring countries."

He further noted that Tajikistan holds significant potential for collaboration, citing shared cultural and linguistic ties as strong foundations for their partnership.

Donyamali praised Tajikistan’s achievements in sports, particularly in judo and boxing, where the nation has seen Olympic success, and commended its effective hosting of international football matches.

Both Iran and Tajikistan are optimistic that this memorandum will pave the way for future endeavors in sports and youth development, enriching the cultural and athletic exchanges between them.
