Dismissing Trump's threats
Hamas strongly rejects US President Donald Trump's threats against Palestinians in Gaza. Senior Hamas official Sami Abu Zuhri said there is an agreement that must be respected by both parties for the prisoners to be released. He added such threats further complicate the matters related to the ceasefire. Earlier Trump said "all hell" would break loose if all the Israeli captives are not released by noon on Saturday. This came after Hamas stated that the release of Israeli captives has been postponed due to the regime’s violations. The resistance group said it intentionally made the announcement five days before the scheduled handover of captives on February 15 to give mediators ample time to pressure the regime.
No to Gaza displacement plan
Iran's foreign minister says the US-Israeli plan to forcefully displace the people of Gaza to other countries is part of a larger colonial scheme to eliminate Palestine. Abbas Araghchi was speaking in a phone call with his Saudi counterpart, Faisal bin Farhan. The top Iranian diplomat called for the international community’s firm stance against this conspiracy. Araghchi also pointed out the Israeli prime minister’s outrageous remarks about the establishment of a Palestinian state in Saudi Arabia. He said Benjamin Netanyahu’s remarks are indication of an unprecedented provocation by the occupying regime, and pose a direct threat to regional peace and security. The Iranian foreign minister said the international community must take immediate steps to prevent normalization of Israel’s genocide and lawlessness. The Saudi foreign minister, for his part, reiterated his country’s firm opposition to displacement of Gazans to other countries. He also backed Iran's call for an extraordinary meeting of foreign ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
Israeli West Bank aggression
The UN’s agency for Palestinian refugees says forced displacement in the occupied West Bank is escalating at an alarming pace. UNRWA said the Israeli military campaign in the occupied territory is the longest since the Second Intifada and has nearly emptied several refugee camps. These include the Jenin, Tulkarm, Nur Shams and Far’a camps, which collectively provided shelter to some 76,600 Palestinian refugees. The UN agency attributed the mass displacement to coercive and dangerous living conditions created by the Israeli regime’s airstrikes, armored bulldozers, detonations, and advanced weaponry. The agency has said the Israeli offensive has already displaced around 40,000 Palestinians.
