Iran warns enemies
The chief of the general staff of the Iranian armed forces warns that any miscalculation and threat by the enemies will be met with crushing and devastating responses. Major General Ali Abdollahi added that Iran’s responses would make its enemies regret their moves. He issued the warning in a message marking Iran’s Defense Industry Day. General Abdollahi said Iran’s defense industry has played a pivotal role in strengthening the country’s security. He added that the ministry’s achievements in recent years have gone beyond manufacturing military equipment, amounting to "a deterrent defensive industrial revolution. The top commander said the Iranian Armed Forces maintained comprehensive and up-to-date readiness across land, sea, air and cyber domains. Meanwhile, Acting Defense Minister Brigadier General Seyyed Majid Ibn al-Reza said Iran’s defense capabilities are not intended for warmongering, but to prevent war and aggression. He underscored that although Iran is not seeking military aggression, it won’t allow any attack against its territory, independence or national security.
Israel West Bank crimes
Palestinian resistance movements have condemned Israel’s killing of a Palestinian man in the occupied West Bank city of Jenin. The Islamic Jihad described the killing of Fathi Hazem as a field assassination and part of an open war waged by the Israeli occupation army against the Palestinian people. It also stressed that Israeli crimes will not go unanswered, and that attempts to spread fear and terror among Palestinians will certainly fail. Hamas also condemned the killing, saying Israel’s targeting of civilians, arrests and assassinations won’t weaken the resistance. Meanwhile, a young Palestinian has been killed after being shot by Israeli settlers in the northeast of al-Khalil. Israeli violence has intensified in the occupied West Bank in recent weeks. The violence has been perpetrated by both Israeli soldiers and settlers.
Israel drops WCK probe
Condemnations are pouring in over Israel’s decision to drop a criminal probe into a 2024 attack that killed seven World Central Kitchen aid workers in Gaza. The UK, Canada and Australia issued a joint statement calling Tel Aviv’s move shameless. The foreign ministries of the three countries said they had spent more than two years pressing Israel to swiftly and thoroughly examine the case and hold those responsible to account. The statement further noted that Israel’s announcement of this decision on World Humanitarian Day was particularly egregious. The sentiment was echoed by Poland, with Warsaw summoning the Israeli envoy in protest at the move. The Polish Foreign Ministry said it demands full clarification over the strike. On April first, 2024, Israeli forces struck a convoy of WCK while they were trying to deliver much-needed food to Deir al-Balah, Gaza. The victims were British, Polish, Australian, and Palestinian, as well as a US-Canada dual citizen.
