Israeli crimes against children

The Palestinian Resistance movement Hamas has issued a statement on World Children's Day, condemning the Israeli crimes against Palestinian children. Hamas said Palestinian children have endured seven decades of systematic Israeli terrorism, calling for prosecution of occupation leaders and urgent international protection. The group said more than 20-thousand children have been killed, and thousands more remain missing under rubble as a result of the Israeli genocidal war since 2023. Many wounded children need treatment abroad as the Israeli regime has severely disrupted access to medicine, clean water and education. Hamas also called for listing Israel in the "List of Shame" for violators of children's rights and compelling it to cease its crimes, including the killing of over 300 children in the West Bank over the past two years. The statement asserted that Palestinian children remain symbol of resilience until the end of the occupation.

Epstein files to go public

US President Donald Trump says he has signed a bill that orders the release of files tied to dead sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein. Trump made the announcement on social media late on Wednesday, after the Attorney General Pam Bondi vowed "maximum transparency" on the Epstein files. This, after Congress passed the Epstein Files Transparency Act with overwhelming bipartisan support. The legislation compels the Justice Department to release all unclassified materials related to Epstein within 30 days. It also makes clear that no record can be withheld because of embarrassment, reputational harm, or political sensitivity, even if it involves government officials, public figures, or foreign dignitaries. Trump’s name appears repeatedly in the Epstein files, with critics alleging he resisted full disclosure for months to avoid embarrassment over those connections.

US-Venezuela tensions

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has condemned US efforts to dominate and colonize the region as tensions have escalated between the two countries. Maduro made the remarks in response to US President Donald Trump’s ambiguous stance on Venezuela. Trump has not ruled out military action, even he hints at diplomatic window with the Venezuelan president. Maduro has expressed readiness for dialogue, while emphasizing Venezuela's resilience against perceived imperialist threats. The US has ramped up pressure, planning to label what he called a Venezuelan cartel as a terrorist organization amid accusations of narcoterrorism. Tensions have escalated further following deadly US strikes on alleged drug-smuggling vessels in the Caribbean. Venezuela condemns the actions, calling them part of a broader US efforts to engineer regime change.
