One killed in Israeli drone strike in southern Lebanon amid rise in ceasefire violations

This picture purportedly shows the aftermath of an Israeli drone strike against a civilian car in Qalaouiyah area of the Bint Jbeil district, southern Lebanon, on October 11, 2025.

In the latest violation of a shaky ceasefire agreement with Lebanon, the Israeli military has carried out an airstrike against a car in the country’s southern Nabatieh governorate, killing one individual.

Lebanon’s official National News Agency (NNA) reported that an Israeli drone fired a guided missile at the vehicle in the Qalaouiyah area of the Bint Jbeil district on Saturday afternoon, setting it ablaze.

The victim was later identified as Ali Hussein Sultan, a resident of the village of as-Sawana.

The strike followed an incident earlier in the day in which one person was killed and seven others injured in a series of Israeli airstrikes on southern Lebanon.

NNA reported that 10 Israeli airstrikes at dawn targeted six heavy equipment yards in an area between Msayleh and an-Najjariyah districts, burning a building and many machines.

“The strikes also completely cut off the Msayleh road due to severe damage and led to the death of a civilian and injuries to others who were passing by,” it said.

The Public Health Emergency Operations Center at the Lebanese Health Ministry said in a statement that the airstrikes resulted in the death of a Syrian national and injuries to one Syrian and six Lebanese, including two women.

The Hezbollah resistance movement, in a statement, condemned the brutal Israeli attack on southern Lebanon and sharply criticized the silence of the Arab world and the international community in the face of the Tel Aviv regime's constant aggression.

Hezbollah called upon the Lebanese government to take a firm stance, maintain national unity, take immediate diplomatic action, and file a complaint with the UN Security Council to stop the Zionist regime's attacks.

These attacks require the necessity of national solidarity among all Lebanese, a firm stance in the face of current challenges and threats, extensive diplomatic and political action, active action in Arab and international circles, and a complaint to the Security Council to pressure the Israeli enemy to stop its attacks, the statement added.

After nearly 14 months of war marked by heavy losses and the failure to achieve its objectives in the aggression against Lebanon, Israel was forced to agree to a ceasefire with Hezbollah, which came into effect on November 27, 2024.

Since then, Israeli forces have been carrying out attacks on Lebanon, which involve airstrikes, breaching the ceasefire.

On January 27, Lebanon announced its decision to extend the ceasefire with Israel until February 18.

This comes as Israel also maintains its occupation of five important locations in southern Lebanon, including Labbouneh, Mount Blat, Owayda Hill, Aaziyyeh, and Hammamis Hill, all of which are located near the border.
