Gaza 'real estate transaction'

US President Donald Trump has defended his shock proposal to forcibly remove Palestinians from Gaza, calling it a real estate transaction. On Tuesday, Trump floated the idea of the US seizing control of Gaza in a joint presser with Israeli Premier Benjamin Netanyahu in the White House. Trump said the entire population of the Palestinian territory should be removed by the regime before the US takeover. Trump added that the US will then own Gaza and turn it into a resort for the wealthy. The proposal has triggered criticism from Palestinian groups, different governments and humanitarian organizations, as well as politicians in the US.

Pro-Palestine rallies

Jordanians have held rallies in a number of cities, including the capital Amman, to express their support for the Palestinian people and denounce the US President’s plan to take over Gaza. The protesters in Amman said Gaza belongs to the Palestinians, adding that forced displacement of the residents of the strip amounts to a humanitarian crime. Some of the demonstrators held a sign reading “Trump is a thief, boycott the US”. The protesters also expressed their commitment to standing by Palestinians' struggle for their legitimate rights. Trump’s controversial proposal to take over Gaza and resettle Palestinians elsewhere has sparked protests elsewhere around the world, including in the Somalian capital.

US complicity on Israeli crimes

Iran says Washington’s coercive measures to protect Israel mark a new low in the history of US complicity in the crimes of the regime. Iran’s foreign ministry spokesman made the remark in a social media post. Esmaeil Baghaei called US sanctioning of an international criminal court an egregious abuse of power. He said the move aims to afford Israel the fullest impunity for its criminal acts. The spokesman urged world countries to beware and react accordingly. Donald Trump signed the executive order against the court on Thursday. He claims the ICC had abused its power by issuing an arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Trump’s executive order includes asset freezes and travel bans against ICC officials, employees, and their family members, along with anyone deemed to have helped the court's investigations.
