The leader of Yemen’s Ansarullah resistance movement has paid homage to Iran’s late top anti-terror commander Lt. Gen. Qassem Soleimani, saying he played a unique role in supporting the Palestinian people and their resistance front.
Adul-Malik al-Houthi made the remarks in a televised speech on Thursday evening as tens of thousands of Iranian people flocked to the southeastern province of Kerman to pay tribute to the legendary commander.
“The US targeted Hajj Qassem Soleimani as he was a significant obstacle to the success of many of its conspiracies.
“Martyr Haj Qassem Soleimani and his Iraqi companion, Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis, had distinguished and vital roles in confronting Israeli and American conspiracies,” the Ansarullah chief said.
The Yemeni leader also addressed the recent developments in the West Asia region.
He denounced the Israeli enemy's brazen attack on Kamal Adwan Hospital, the last remaining medical facility in the northern Gaza Strip, as an act of shamelessness and a despicable crime.
“Alongside mass killings, the Israeli enemy continues to use starvation as a method of genocide in Gaza. Sufferings of displaced people in Gaza have worsened with cold temperatures and rain.
“Severe shortages of clothes and heating supplies for the displaced have resulted in the deaths of numerous children from the cold, including newborns,” Houthi stated.
He pointed to the plight of Palestinian detainees, describing them as immense due to torture, medical neglect, harassment, and all forms of injustice as the hands of the Israel Prison Service (IPS).
Houthi also took a swipe at the Palestinian Authority over its so-called security campaign across the West Bank, stating that the measures come alongside the ongoing Israeli military aggressions in the occupied territory.
He said the authority's hopes of reaching peace with Israel through cooperation and negotiation is a great delusion as the regime clearly states its opposition to the establishment of a Palestinian state.
“For decades, the Palestinian people have suffered from the occupation of their land and the denial of their freedom and independence. Hundreds of UN Security Council sessions have not yielded any fruitful outcome or benefit for Palestinians' rights,” the Ansarullah chief said.
He stated that over 50 Security Council meetings have been held in the course of the ongoing Israeli genocidal war on Gaza, adding the sessions have not produced any results as the US is playing a primary role in obstructing any helpful initiative.
Houthi underlined that the US continues to obstruct any resolution calling for a ceasefire and the immediate provision of essential services and humanitarian aid to Palestinians in Gaza.
Turning to the ongoing Israeli acts of aggression against Lebanon, he stated that such vicious assaults underscore the necessity of resistance to be confronted.
“In Syria, the Israeli enemy continues its aerial attacks and targets ordinary people. The Zionist regime works to disarm Syrian people, humiliate the nation and restrict their movement,” the Yemeni leader said.
“In the face of Israeli arrogance, Palestinian steadfastness reflects the correct stance and the legitimate direction from religious, humanitarian, and legal perspectives,” Houthi added.
The Ansarullah chief also condemned Israeli airstrikes on Yemen, saying the regime’s main objective is to isolate Gaza as the Yemeni armed forces’ pro-Palestine operations continue to deal heavy blows to the usurping regime.
Houthi stressed that the Israeli military’s acts of aggression won’t deter Yemen’s resolve in supporting Palestine.
