Iran multilayered diplomacy

The Islamic Republic of Iran has been the target of Western hostility since its establishment in 1979. Machinations to pull off a regime change, to incite public disorder, to undermine the nation's prosperity and productivity through sanctions and other repressive economic measures, and to outright threaten the country with military confrontation are just a small list of challenges faced by this steadfast nation of 80 million-plus people.

Tehran's answer to all these provocative plots has always been to persevere diplomatically.

From joining budding or established international bodies to forging strong ties with non-Western entities by looking to the East, to Africa, to South America, and to its own backyard, Iran continues to offset any threats posed to its stability through multilayered diplomatic maneuvering. It is that very diplomacy which we will be discussing in today's Spotlight program.
