A senior commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has warned that any further military aggression by the Israeli regime will see a bigger response from Iran.

Speaking to the Press TV, the senior IRGC commander said if the Israeli regime resorts to any military aggression on Iranian soil, Iran “will respond with twice the force.”

His remarks came after the IRGC launched a barrage of missiles and drones at the occupied territories in response to the Israeli regime’s terrorist attack on the Iranian consulate in Syria.

The swarm of missiles and drones, more than a hundred in number, according to some estimates, penetrated multiple defense layers of the regime and struck targets in the occupied land.

‘Operation True Promise’ was in response to the assassination of seven Iranian military advisors in Damascus on April 1, including a senior IRGC commander in Lebanon and Syria, General Mohammad Reza Zahedi, and his deputy General Hadi Haj Rahemi, the IRGC said in its first statement.

In the second statement, the IRGC retaliation came after 10 days of "silence and neglect" on the part of the international organizations, especially the United Nations Security Council, to condemn Israeli aggression or punish the regime in line with Article 7 of the UN Charter.

Iran then resorted to retaliatory strikes, "using its strategic intelligence capabilities, missiles, and drones" to attack "targets of the Zionist terrorist army in the occupied territories, successfully hitting and destroying them."

The statement, meanwhile, warned the United States -- the Israeli regime's biggest supporter -- that "any support or participation in harming Iran's interests will result in a decisive and regrettable response by the Iranian armed forces.

Iran’s permanent mission to the United Nations, in a statement following Saturday night’s attack retaliatory military action, said the retaliatory action was based on Article 51 of the UN Charter concerning legitimate defense in response to the Zionist regime’s aggression against Iran’s diplomatic facility.

The mission warned that if the Israeli regime resorted to another mistake, Iran’s subsequent response could be “remarkably more intense.”

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, in his Eid al-Fitr sermon, dubbed the Israeli attack on the Iranian consulate a “mistake”, which he asserted would see punishment.

Meanwhile, Iran's Defense Minister Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Ashtiani has warned that any country that opens its soil or airspace to the Israeli regime for a [potential] attack on Iran, will receive a “decisive response.”
