Nine Yemeni civilians, all of them women and children, have been killed and several others injured in a Saudi airstrike on a residential area in Yemen’s southwestern province of Ibb. The deadly Saudi aggression has claimed the lives of more than 11,400 people in Yemen since March 2015. The Saudi strikes have also taken a heavy toll on the country’s facilities and infrastructures.
An international lawyer and activist believes this is a war against the Yemeni civilians, waged by foreign belligerents with full support from the United States and Britain.
“From the start this has been a contrived illegal belligerent war on the civilians of a sovereign nation and nothing has been done about that,” Barry Grossman told Press TV in an interview on Saturday.
He also criticized the UN resolution imposing an arms embargo on Yemenis, arguing that they are fighting to preserve their own right to self-determination and their nations’ sovereignty.
The activist further noted Saudi Arabia’s military aggression against Yemen is fully supported by the “Atlantic World establishment” which, as usual, is making money from arms sales.
He went on to say there is no willingness to even discuss the imposition of a full arms embargo against Saudi Arabia.
Grossman further stated the world has moved fully into a new era in which the rule of law is essentially dead, adding that what prevails over everything is the rule of policy which is made by corporate-funded private think tanks that offer policies to the political apparatus.
“What we have seen in recent decades is that the very concept of the rule of law, the very concept of human rights, the notion of what is or is not genuine national security interest, what is or is not terrorism is defined by Atlantic World powers, not in accordance with some abstract principles.” he said.
