Human rights activist Firas al‑Najim warned that the reported Saudi strike on Sana’a International Airport would mark a serious escalation and could trigger a new phase of the conflict. He called the strike a strategic mistake, alleging Riyadh acted under pressure from the United States and “Zionist” interests concerned about Yemen’s growing ties with Tehran, including flights between Sana’a and Tehran.
He blamed Saudi Arabia and the UAE for starting the war in 2015 and causing much of the bloodshed, saying Yemeni restraint has been notable. He warned, however, that an attack on Sana’a airport could catalyse retaliation.
Al‑Najim said Yemeni forces — after years of blockade and pressure from the Saudi‑led coalition, backed by the United States — have largely refrained from striking Saudi Arabia and the UAE, focusing instead on confronting Israel and supporting the Axis of Resistance.
