Iran nuclear talks
Iran’s Foreign Minister has met with the director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency in Geneva ahead of the Tuesday indirect nuclear talks with the United States. According to Iran’s Foreign Ministry, Abbas Araghchi and Raphael Grossi discussed technical issues related to cooperation between the Islamic Republic and the IAEA. The two sides also exchanged views on the nuclear talks between Iran and the United States. The IAEA chief said he held in-depth technical discussions with Araghchi in preparation for Tuesday’s talks. Araghchi also met with the president of the International Committee of the Red Cross. The two discussed bilateral relations between the world body and the Islamic Republic of Iran. Araghchi has also met with his Omani counterpart whose country will mediate the second round of negotiations. Oman hosted the first round of the Iran-US indirect negotiations in the capital Muscat earlier in February which were described as positive.
IRGC military drills
Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has launched military drills where the IRGC’s naval forces exercise smart control of the strategic Strait of Hormuz. The combined live-fire drills are directly supervised by the IRGC chief Major General Mohammad Pakpour. The force said the objective is practicing counter-strikes against possible security and military threats in the region as well as monitoring of operational preparedness of the naval forces. According to the IRGC, the focus will be quick, decisive and large-scale reaction against any plot to undermine the maritime security of the Strait of Hormuz.
'Hezbollah ready to defend Lebanon'
The Leader of Hezbollah says the resistance movement does not seek a war but is fully prepared to defend Lebanon against any aggression. Naim Qassem warned against underestimating Hezbollah’s defensive power that's capable of causing pain to the aggressor when time comes. He stressed that Israel is an expansionist regime which wants to take control of the entire region whose aggressive and genocidal actions are fully supported by the United States. The Hezbollah Leader said that the resistance has been patient in the face of Israeli aggressions because it is the Lebanese government’s responsibility to adopt a stance. He criticized the government for focusing on disarming the resistance, which he said serves the objectives of the Israeli regime. Naim Qassem vowed that the Lebanese resistance and sacrifice will prevent the enemy from achieving its goals.
