Genocide experts blast Hillary Clinton for 'genocide denial' in Gaza

The Lemkin Institute for Genocide Prevention condemned former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, saying her recent remarks on Israeli aggression in Gaza amounted to “outright genocide denial.”

“Young people in the U.S. are not stupid or gullible. They simply reject genocide – something the Secretary might consider doing as well,” the Institute said in a statement on Monday.

At a summit held by Israeli outlet Israel Hayom last week, Clinton said that young Americans are misinformed about the “history” and “context” of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

She said that young people only oppose Israel and its war in Gaza because they’re being fed “pure propaganda” and “totally made up” content on social media.

The former secretary of state claimed that Israel has the “worst PR of any group” —  ignoring Israel’s extensive propaganda campaigns in the US and the world.

The anti-genocide group said that "no PR effort can hide the evidence from Gaza" and praised young people for speaking out against the violence despite potential risks, positioning their awareness as a moral stand rather than a product of manipulation.

The Lemkin Institute criticized Clinton for framing the issue as a public relations problem and for implying that young Americans are easily swayed by online content, instead of confronting the documented atrocities in Gaza.

The institute pointed to “two years of videos depicting Israel’s genocide against Palestinians,” including footage from journalists and civilians.

“Secretary Clinton’s remarks are not only inaccurate, but they are also a shameful example of the lengths to which people complicit in genocide will go to deny its existence,” the statement said.

The institute strongly denounced Clinton for omitting any mention of mass civilian casualties, instead focusing on the difficulty of "controlling" information online.

Since the Israeli regime launched its genocidal war on Gaza on October 7, 2023, it has killed more than 70,000 Palestinians, including 21,000 children, and wounded 171,000 others.

The onslaught has also led to widespread destruction of homes and civilian infrastructure, creating a dire situation for the besieged territory’s surviving inhabitants.

Despite a ceasefire that began on October 10, Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza continues unabated, with more than 600 violations of the ceasefire reported in the last few weeks.

Israel has killed more than 360 Palestinians since the truce went into effect, according to Gaza authorities. Among the dead are at least 70 children, UNICEF reported.

International bodies, including the UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry, the International Association of Genocide Scholars (IAGS), and other rights groups, have concluded that the Israeli offensive in Gaza amounts to genocide.
