Rejecting West Bank annexation attempt

Condemnations are mounting after Israel’s Knesset advances a bill to annex the occupied West Bank and impose Israeli sovereignty on the territory. The International Court of Justice said the regime has no legal authority to exercise sovereignty over the occupied Palestinian territories in the West Bank and East al-Quds. It emphasized that Israel as an occupying power must refrain from enforcing its unilateral laws in these areas. Hamas has also slammed the Knesset’s decision as illegal, stressing that such measures further expose the colonial nature of the Israeli regime. On Tuesday, Israeli lawmakers in the 120-seat Knesset voted 2524 to advance the bill, in the first of four votes needed to pass it into law.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry says a French judge has granted conditional release to Iranian academic Mahdieh Esfandiari. She was detained in France in February for pro-Palestine activism.

US aggression in Pacific

The United States has conducted two new strikes on vessels it claims are involved in drug trafficking in the Pacific, expanding its campaign beyond the Caribbean Sea. US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth said the first vessel was struck in the eastern Pacific Ocean, killing two. Hours later he confirmed the military hit another vessel in the same area, killing three more people. It was the first known US operation in the Pacific since President Donald Trump launched a new offensive against what he calls the drug trade. The latest strikes follow at least seven other such attacks in the Caribbean. The strikes have already raised tensions with Venezuela and Colombia. On Thursday, Venezuela’s President Nicolas Maduro announced the country now has five thousand Russian missiles for air defense.
