Israel adheres only to language of force; American bases protect Israel not regional states: Yemen

Mahdi al-Mashat, president of Yemen's Supreme Political Council

Yemen has warned the West Asia region’s Arab states about the certain prospect of the Israeli regime’s attacking them, citing Tel Aviv’s recent airstrikes against Qatar and advising them not to trust either the regime or its arch-ally, the United States.

Mahdi al-Mashat, president of the country's Supreme Political Council, made the remarks in a statement on Sunday.

“Addressing Arab leaders: The message in the Zionist aggression against Qatar was clear to everyone, which is that their turn awaits them,” he said.

“If everyone does not wake up, we are facing an enemy that adheres to nothing but the language of force, no matter how much heads are buried in the sand,” he added.

The remarks came after deadly Israeli airstrikes against the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas’ leadership in the Qatari capital.

The attacks took place amid Hamas’ ongoing cooperation with Doha’s mediatory efforts towards realization of an end to the Israeli regime’s October 2023-present war of genocide on the Gaza Strip.

The strikes were uniformly condemned by an emergency Arab-Islamic summit that took place in the city to address the aggression and its aftermath.

The summit, however, stopped short of coming up with a clear military strategy towards formation of a unified Arab-Islamic front aimed at deterring the regime.

Mashat said, “We had hoped that the extraordinary Doha summit's resolutions would be practical instead of mere words and condemnations.”

He, meanwhile, cautioned the region’s Arab countries that host American military bases that the outposts “are to protect the Israeli enemy.”

The bases are “not for you as some imagine, but against you.”

Concluding his remarks, the official vowed that Sana’a would stand by the countries in the face of potential Israeli aggression as it has in the case of Gaza.

He cited the Yemeni Armed Forces’ near-daily solidarity strikes in support of the coastal sliver.

“We affirm Yemen's position supporting Arab and Islamic unity in confronting the Israeli danger.”
