The Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) has signed three agreements with Russian media outlets to enhance cooperation.
The agreements were signed this week during a visit to Moscow by Ahmad Noroozi, the head of IRIB World Service and Chief Executive Officer of Press TV.
The first agreement was reached between Press TV and Ruptly, and was inked by Noroozi and the CEO of the Russian video news agency on August 25.
On Tuesday, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation was signed between IRIB and the Mir TV channel by Abbas Mohammadnejad, the director general of the international affairs department of the IRIB, and the deputy head of the TV channel.
The third document, an addendum to the MoU, was signed by the CEO of the BRICS TV channel and Mohammadnejad, in the presence of the head of the IRIB World Service.
During the visit, Noroozi and Mohammadnejad held separate meetings with senior directors of Russian Television and Radio Broadcasting, the Rossiya Segodnya media group, and the Zvezda TV channe,l where they discussed ways to enhance mutual cooperation.
In May, Iran's Parliament approved a comprehensive strategic partnership treaty with Russia by consensus, signaling a significant step towards deepening bilateral relations.
The agreement was signed by President Masoud Pezeshkian of Iran and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, in Moscow in January.
It provides the legal framework for the long-term development of cooperation in areas ranging from defense, energy, finance, and transportation to industries, agriculture, culture, science, and technology.
Iran and Russia, as two close and strategic allies, have deepened relations in various fields, despite heavy Western sanctions.
