Iran and Iraq say Muslim and Arab countries should take practical action to end Israel’s food and medical blockade of the Gaza Strip and genocide against its people.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and his Iraqi counterpart Fuad Hussein met on Monday on the sidelines of an extraordinary meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers in Saudi Arabia’s city of Jeddah.
They stressed the importance of providing humanitarian aid to the defenseless people of Gaza and punish the criminals.
The ministers strongly condemned the Israeli regime’s crimes in depriving the oppressed people of Gaza of access to the most basic humanitarian needs.
On Friday, the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) system said 514,000 people – close to a quarter of Palestinians in the besieged coastal sliver– are experiencing famine.
At least 62,622 Palestinians have been killed, mostly women and children, and another 157,673 individuals injured in the brutal Israeli onslaught on Gaza since October 7, 2023, according to the health ministry of Gaza.
Araghchi and Hussein also emphasized the significance of the promotion of political and economic cooperation and the full and effective implementation of the agreements signed between Tehran and Baghdad.
