US-Israeli genocide in Gaza

Israeli forces continue to target residential areas and aid seekers across Gaza with air and artillery strikes, claiming more civilian lives. One of the latest airstrikes targeted a residential building in the al-Sabra neighborhood of the Gaza City, killing a child. In Jabalia al-Nazla, in northern Gaza, three Palestinians were killed after Israeli forces shelled residential areas. An earlier strike on the same neighborhood killed two siblings. Another Palestinian journalist was also killed while reporting in the Zikim area, north of Gaza. The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate condemned the killing of Khaled Al-Madhoun, calling it part of Israel’s campaign against journalists to silence the Palestinian narrative of the war. At least 16 Gazans were killed while awaiting food aid, increasing the number of the victims of Israel’s starvation policy to nearly 280. Gaza's hospitals reported eight new deaths due to famine and malnutrition, including two children, raising the number victims of malnutrition to 281, including 114 children. The death toll from the Israeli genocide now exceeds 62,620, with over 157,670 others injured.

Famine in Gaza

The UN agency for Palestinian refugees has called on Israel to stop denying there is famine in Gaza, amid the regime’s total ban on the entry of humanitarian aid. In a social media post, UNRWA’s chief, Philippe Lazzarini, said it is time for Israel to stop denying the famine it has created in Gaza. He urged global leaders and those with influence to use their influence with determination and a sense of moral duty and press Israel to halt the deepening of famine in the besieged territory. His call came after, on Friday, the UN officially declared a famine in Gaza, with its aid chief criticizing Israel for systematic obstruction of aid deliveries. Earlier on Saturday, UNRWA reiterated that the famine in Gaza can still be reversed if massive humanitarian aid is allowed in immediately. The World Food Program has also called for urgent action to stop the deepening of famine in Gaza, noting that this is the first time famine has been confirmed in West Asia.

Anti-Netanyahu protests

Hundreds of protesters have taken to the streets in Tel Aviv, holding another weekly rally in protest at the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s handling of the Gaza war. They also demanded a ceasefire deal with Hamas to secure the release of the remaining captives held in Gaza. The protesters gathered in front of Israel's military headquarters, igniting fires and chanting slogans to voice their anger at Netanyahu’s policies, and his refusal to reach a ceasefire deal with Hamas. They included relatives of Israeli captives in Gaza. The protesters also accused Netanyahu and his extremist cabinet of putting their own political interests ahead of the captives’ lives. The demonstration came after Israel's minister of military affairs warned that Gaza City could be destroyed in a new military operation, even as famine spreads there. On Wednesday, the regime called up 60,000 reservists, in a sign that it is pressing ahead with the plan to occupy Gaza City in defiance of international condemnation.
