Iran nuclear program
Iran’s foreign minister has strongly dismissed the European Union’s call to engage in negotiations aimed at ending the country's peaceful nuclear program. Abbas Araghchi was responding to comments by EU foreign policy chief, Kaja Kallas, who called for the immediate start of negotiations to end Iran’s nuclear program. Araghchi said Kallas' remarks ignore the provisions of the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, which affirms the right of all signatories to develop, research, and use nuclear technology for peaceful purposes. He said the EU official's remarks also undermine the validity of the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, and the UN Security Council Resolution 2231 that upholds it, and render the so-called snapback mechanism baseless. Araghchi stressed that Kallas' remarks mean that the participation of the EU and the UK in any future negotiation on Iran's nuclear program would be irrelevant and meaningless. His remarks came after Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian signed into law the suspension of Tehran's cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency based on a legislation, which was passed by the parliament last month.
Genocide racing in Gaza
Death and destruction ravage Gaza as the Israeli military continues to pound the blockaded territory with indiscriminate air and artillery strikes. In one of the latest attacks, at least ten people were killed and over 50 others injured after Israeli warplanes bombed tents of displaced Palestinians in the al-Mawasi refugee camp, in southern Gaza. Fatalities were also reported in an Israeli airstrike targeting aid-seekers near the Wadi Gaza Bridge in central Gaza. Also in central Gaza, an Israeli combat drone struck a group of civilians, claiming the lives of five people and injuring several others. Over a dozen people, including several children, were also killed in multiple airstrikes on three separate schools across Gaza. Director of the Indonesian Hospital, Dr. Marwan Al-Sultan, was killed, along with his family, in an Israeli airstrike on Gaza City. The US-Israeli genocide in Gaza began in October 2023. Since then, more than 57,000 people have been killed, and nearly 134,600 others injured.
Hezbollah leader speech
The leader of Hezbollah resistance movement says Israel is not only the occupier of Palestine, but also poses a strategic threat to the entire region and the world. Speaking in a televised speech, Sheikh Naim Qassem said the threat posed by Israel is not limited to Muslims, as the regime is a real peril to Christians and Jews as well. He noted that Israel's ideology, behavior, and vision endanger both the regional stability and global peace. Qassem said since the ceasefire agreement between Lebanon and Israel took effect, the regime has not stopped its aggression, and has violated the agreement more than 3,700 times. He stressed that the regime must adhere to the terms it agreed upon with Lebanon, and stop its acts of aggression. Qassem also firmly rejected suggestions about the movement surrendering its weapons to Israel, emphasizing that Lebanon’s defense and sovereignty are internal matters, which have nothing to do with the Israeli enemy. The Hezbollah leader emphasized that the movement will not be swayed by threats, nor will it accept to surrender its weapons to Israel.
