Iran-US indirect talks
The second round of indirect negotiations between Iran and the US has concluded. Press TV has learned that the atmosphere around the talks was positive. The talks were held in the Italian capital, Rome over Iran’s peaceful nuclear program and the removal of sanctions against it. Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff led the talks mediated by Omani Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi. The third round of indirect US-Iran talks will be taking place next week. The first round was held in the Omani capital Muscat last week. Iran says it’s taking part in the talks despite having serious doubts about the intentions and motivations of the American side. Tehran says it seeks a peaceful resolution over its nuclear program. Western countries, particularly the US, have long accused Iran of seeking nuclear weapons, a claim Tehran firmly denies.
Israeli captives in Gaza
The military wing of the Palestinian resistance movement, Hamas, says the fate of Israeli captive Idan Alexander remains unknown after a regime airstrike on the location where he was held. Al-Qassam Brigades spokesperson Abu Obaida said the body of a fighter who had been assigned to protect Alexander has been retrieved but the whereabouts of other fighters remain unknown. Abu Obaida added that al-Qassam is committed to protecting all captives and preserving their lives despite the brutality of the Israeli aggression. Hamas also released a video, showing another Israeli captive urging his family to pressure the regime into securing his release. Elkana Bohbot also called on US President Donald Trump to facilitate his release. Of the 251 captives taken by Hamas on October 2023, 58 remain in captivity in Gaza.
Yemeni army operations
Yemeni Armed Forces have shot down another MQ-9 drone as part of their retaliatory operations amid the ongoing American aggression against the Arab country. Saree also reaffirmed that Yemenis would continue military operations in defense of their country and until the US-Israeli aggression against Gaza stops and the siege on it is lifted. This comes a day after US strikes killed at least 80 civilians and injured 150 others. Saree had already warned that the US military buildup in the region and its aggression against Yemen would only escalate confrontations, retaliatory strikes, and direct engagements.
