US-Israel Gaza genocide

Gaza is witnessing more deaths and destruction as Israeli forces press ahead with their relentless air and artillery strikes across the blockaded territory. The latest attacks targeted tents housing displaced people in the city of Khan Yunis, leaving two people dead. Israeli artillery fire also struck Beit Lahiya in northern Gaza and Rafah in the south. These strikes followed a massacre in the Shuja'iyya neighborhood, which claimed dozens of lives, injured over 100, and left 80 people missing under the rubble. According to Gaza Health Ministry, at least 50 people have been killed since Wednesday. The Israeli regime launched its genocidal war on Gaza in October 2023. Nearly 50,850 Palestinians have been killed since then.

No US bases in Panama

Panama has rejected any efforts to re-establish US military bases on the country’s soil, emphasizing that the sovereignty over the Panama Canal remains non-negotiable. Panama’s security minister also stressed that his country has not ceded sovereignty over the canal or its adjacent areas in any agreement. He was speaking during a joint public appearance with visiting Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth. During the two-day visit, the US defense secretary suggested that former American military bases in Panama could host troops again under a new deal signed this week. He also called for free passage through the canal for US navy ships. Since taking office in January, US President Donald Trump has repeatedly argued that China wields excessive influence over the Canal, seeking to take back the canal and counter what he called China's disproportionate influence over it.

Trump tariffs war

US President Donald Trump’s decision to pause some tariffs have sparked international reactions. New Zealand says the on and off tariffs policy has caused instability while Australia says the pause shows the tariffs were hurting the US economy. On Wednesday, hours after levies against roughly 60 of America’s trading partners kicked in, Trump said he was authorizing a universal lowered reciprocal tariffs of 10 percent as negotiations continued. He said the measure will be in place for three months. At the same time he increased tariffs on goods from China to 125%, accusing Beijing of a "lack of respect" after it retaliated by saying it would impose tariffs of 84% on US imports. China’s commerce ministry slammed new US tariffs, saying that the levies will severely impact global economy.
