Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei has strongly condemned a terrorist attack on a convoy of buses carrying security forces in the restive southwestern Pakistani province of Balochistan.

At least five officers were killed and 35 wounded in a roadside bomb blast targeting seven buses in the convoy in Balochistan. The attack comes after gunmen attacked a passenger train in southwestern Pakistan, killing 6 military personnel and taking 35 passengers hostage.

In a statement on Monday, Baghaei affirmed Iran’s principled stance on opposing all forms of terrorism in every part of the world.

He stressed the importance of boosting efforts and bilateral and regional cooperation to prevent and counter terrorism.

The Iranian spokesman expressed his condolences to the Pakistani government and nation as well as the bereaved families of the victims.
