Israel uses drones to terrorize Gazans, warns of '2nd, 3rd Nakba'

The Israeli regime has employed drones as a psychological weapon to instill fear and intimidate Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, increasing pressure on residents to accept the US-Israeli plan for forced displacement, warned a human right organization.

The Geneva-based Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor in a video posted on X platform,  documented alarming instances of Israeli quad copter drones broadcasting recorded threats to civilians, warning of potential further displacement and destruction.

One particularly chilling message relayed from the drones ominously stated, “If you do not wake up from slumber, they will bring a second and third Nakba upon you” and then a siren of an ambulance is heard.

The Nakba or Catastrophe was the ethnic cleansing of 800,000 Palestinians from their land, when Israel created its own state in Palestine in 1948. Since then, around 530 Palestinian towns and villages have been wiped off the map by the Israeli brutal regime.

This method of psychological warfare by Israel is not new; it marks a continuation of tactics employed over the 16 months of war that the regime has killed more than 48,200 Palestinian, mostly women and children.

The Israeli army uses electronically controlled quadcopter drones remotely for a variety of tasks, including espionage and surveillance, issuing displacement orders, frightening civilians with loud noises, and—most dangerously—using them as a weapon to kill and injure Palestinians.

The situation escalated in April 2024 at the Nuseirat refugee camp, where residents reported that drones were playing the sounds of crying babies and screaming women. Testimonies gathered by Euro-Med revealed that these recordings were intended to lure residents outside, where they were then targeted by Israeli snipers.

“It was terrifying,” one of the camp’s residents said. “We thought someone was in danger, but it was a trap. I saw two people in front of me get injured, and we couldn't even help them because of the ongoing gunfire.”

In October 2024, prior to an incident where Israeli forces raided and burned Kamal Adwan Hospital, drones were deployed to instruct those inside to evacuate immediately. Medical staff reported that many patients—particularly those in critical condition including children in incubators —could not be moved without risking their lives.

Moreover, in November, Prof. Nizam Mamode, a British retired surgeon who volunteered at Nasser Hospital in Gaza, testified to the UK Parliament’s International Development Committee about the horrific experiences of injured children.

He described instances where drones would follow bombings and target civilians attempting to help the wounded. “Children would tell us, ‘I was lying on the ground after a bomb had dropped and this quadcopter came down and shot me,’” he recounted, visibly shaken.

The tactics employed by Israeli forces have drawn international condemnation, especially in light of the ongoing genocide cases.

The International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants in November for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former war minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity. Additionally, the Israeli regime is facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice concerning its actions in Gaza.
