Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has officially integrated two types of advanced tactical communication vehicles into its grassroots-level forces as a means of ensuring more secure and efficient communication on the battlefield.

The development that marked a strategic enhancement for the IRGC’s military capabilities, took place on Monday in the presence of the Corps’ Chief Commander Major General Hossein Salami.

The state-of-the-art Khatam 270 and 450 vehicles are designed to provide secure, encrypted, and interference-resistant communication for the IRGC’s Ground Forces in diverse and challenging environments, whether the rugged terrain of mountainous regions or in the face of extreme weather conditions.

Despite such circumstances, the vehicles ensure provision of uninterrupted and real-time command and control services for the IRGC’s grassroots forces, which are credited for functioning as the backbone of Iran’s military operations.

Defense officials billed the vehicles as, not only representations of a technological leap for Iran's Armed Forces, but also indications of a shift towards enhancing the effectiveness of smaller, more mobile units operating in decentralized combat environments.

Delivery of the vehicles to the IRGC marked the culmination of several months of research and operational trials, executed by specialists from the Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics in collaboration with the Corps’ communications division.

According to observers, the development marked a significant milestone in the Islamic Republic's ongoing effort to modernize and strengthen its military infrastructure.

The achievement also came on the heels of several high-profile defense innovations.

Last week, the IRGC revealed pending unveiling of a domestically developed supersonic cruise missile, which can be flown as far as 2,000 kilometers (1,242 miles).

Additionally, the country's naval forces recently deployed a new drone carrier ship capable of launching a variety of unmanned aerial systems (UAS) to enhance surveillance and strike capabilities across critical maritime zones.

Iranian officials have said such advancements were in direct response to evolving regional security threats, with Iran emphasizing that its defense capabilities are always proportionate to the challenges and menaces that are posed by external forces.

The country has consistently reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining national security and its regional influence, while ensuring that its defense systems remained robust against potential threats.
