Palestinian resistance groups have denounced the military operations conducted by the Palestinian Authority (PA) against residents in the Jenin refugee camp, which coincides with the PA's appeal for increased military assistance from the United States.

The Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas and the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, affiliated with the Fatah movement, in a joint statement from the Jenin refugee camp on Tuesday criticized the PA’s military actions and systematic deprivation of necessities for innocent Palestinians.

The statement blasted the PA for crossing "red lines" by intentionally harming civilians, as well as obstructing access to essential services like water, electricity, and education.

The armed groups expressed their growing frustration, warning, “Our patience is running out, so do not force us to reach the point of no return, which has dire consequences.”

They emphasized that any escalation would ultimately serve the interests of their adversaries while reaffirming their commitment to resist the Israeli occupation.

The statement comes in the wake of violent clashes in Jenin, where several homes were set ablaze and several Palestinian were killed, following a PA crackdown on Palestinians in the Jenin refugee camp.

Last month, the PA launched a crackdown on a coalition of armed groups called the Jenin Brigades, which are affiliated with Palestinian factions such as Hamas and Islamic Jihad.

Palestinian Authority seeks $680 million in US aid to eliminate resistance

Amidst the tensions, the Palestinian Authority has sought significant military aid from the United States, requesting a $680 million plan to enhance training for its special forces and increase its arsenal, including armored vehicles and ammunition.

During a December meeting with US security officials, representatives from the PA sought financial assistance from the United States over a four-year period, proposing to dismantle resistance forces in the Jenin camp as part of the deal.

The Palestinian Authority also complained that the US had yet to approve funding for renovation works at prisons in Bethlehem and Nablus in the occupied West Bank.

A former US intelligence official, on condition of anonymity, said that the US has been urging the PA for several months to enhance its security efforts against the resistance groups in the West Bank.

The Palestinian Authority's actions have caused widespread criticism among Palestinians, many of whom view the Authority as ineffective and corrupt.

Meanwhile, the Israeli regime continues to conduct unilateral operations in the occupied West Bank, particularly in Area A, which is designated for the exclusive authority of the Palestinian Authority according to the Oslo Accords.

Since the onset of the Israeli genocidal war on Gaza on October, 7, 2023, Israeli forces and extremist Jewish settlers have killed at least 838 Palestinians and injured more than 6,700 in the West Bank, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
