Israeli forces kill Palestinian man in West Bank, withhold his body
Israeli forces have killed a 29-year-old Palestinian man during a raid on the occupied West Bank town of Aqraba, besieging his home and firing an Energa anti-tank grenade at the building before demolishing parts of it.
The Palestinian Health Ministry said in a statement that the victim, identified as Abdul Karim Muhammad Salem Khader, was “shot and killed by the occupation forces” in the town of Aqraba, south of Nablus, on Tuesday.
According to reports, Israeli forces raided Aqraba, surrounded Khader’s home and fired an Energa anti-tank rifle grenade at it before using a bulldozer to demolish parts of the building.
Footage from the scene showed extensive damage to the house, with large holes in its exterior wall and rubble scattered around the site.
An Israeli army spokesperson claimed that the “army killed an armed man who tried to attack soldiers.”
Aqraba Mayor Salah al-Din Jaber, however, said Khader was unarmed and that there had been no exchange of fire.
Jaber said between 300 and 400 Israeli forces entered the town overnight, declared it a closed military zone and surrounded Khader’s home.
He said Israeli forces raided the house, killed Khader and took away his body.
“This was a show of force, nothing more and nothing less,” the mayor said.
Israeli forces carried out widespread raids across the occupied West Bank and East al-Quds early Tuesday, detaining Palestinians and searching homes in several areas.
The regime's military raided the town of Anata and the Shu’fat refugee camp in occupied East al-Quds, as well as the town of Dura near Hebron in the southern West Bank.
According to the Palestinian news agency Wafa, Israeli forces detained at least 10 Palestinians in Dura and Hebron.
In southern Hebron, the regime’s forces also began demolishing homes in the village of Khallit al-Dabe in the Masafer Yatta area. They also sealed off all entrances to Shu’fat and Anata, preventing residents from entering or leaving, Wafa reported.
Adnan Ghaith, the governor of al-Quds, said the raids in Anata were part of ongoing Israeli attempts to impose a siege on the area. He also said Israeli forces were preventing ambulances from reaching injured Palestinians.
Israeli forces further tightened the siege by bulldozing major water pipelines in Anata, threatening residents’ access to water.
Israel has occupied the West Bank since 1967, while violence across the territory has sharply escalated since the regime launched its genocidal war on Gaza in October 2023.
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has described Israeli violence in the occupied West Bank as a “silent war” that has largely escaped global scrutiny.
