A senior Iranian Army commander says the Islamic Republic has deployed several brigades of ground forces on the Western and Eastern borders of the country to maintain its security and preserve its territorial integrity.

Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari, deputy chief of the Iranian Army for Coordination, said, “Border control will prevent the entry of smuggled products, drugs and other materials into our country.”

“We must control our borders in order to maintain our social and internal security and prevent any unwanted incidents.”

Amid the land, air and sea orders, he noted that the land borders of the country are of more importance because of their span.

“It’s planned to build smart walls which can be controlled and monitored in different ways, and can help to block the border appropriately, wherever it’s geographically possible, in order to maintain the security of our country and preserve its territorial integrity.”

Iran’s southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan, which borders Pakistan and Afghanistan, has long been the site of frequent clashes between Iranian security forces and Takfiri terrorists as well as drug traffickers.

Iran’s security forces have protected the border and managed to repel almost all assaults by foreign-backed terrorists.

The so-called Jaish al-Adl terrorist group, based in Pakistan, has claimed responsibility for several attacks targeting both civilians and security forces in recent years in Sistan and Baluchestan.
