Yemen anti-Israel operations
The Yemeni army announces operations against Israel in support of Gaza and in response to Thursday’s Israeli aggression against the country. The spokesman said the ship was targeted due to its violation of the ban on entering the ports of occupied Palestine. Yahya Saree added that earlier, the Israeli enemy launched several deadly raids on civilian facilities in Sana'a and Hudaidah. The spokesman said this aggression will only increase the determination of the Yemeni people to support the Palestinian people. Saree added that the Armed Forces possess the capabilities to expand their target bank in occupied Palestine.
Weapons supply to Israel
The UN says legal action could be taken against the United States and Germany in national or international courts for arms supply to Israel. The UN special rapporteur on human rights and counter-terrorism said the US and Germany supply 99% of the Israeli regime's weapons. Ben Saul said the Genocide Convention obligates nations to prevent genocide and it seems like the two countries have not been properly interpreting and fulfilling their international legal obligations. The UN official described the situation in Gaza as catastrophic and unprecedented in terms of the level of violence and the extent of destruction.
South Korea political turmoil
South Korean lawmakers have impeached acting President Han Duck-soo, marking the second impeachment of a national leader in just two weeks. The motion which required a simple majority in the 300-member National Assembly, was passed with all 192 votes cast in favor of the impeachment. The results were announced amidst protests from the ruling party members who boycotted the vote. Han, who is also Prime Minister, assumed the role after President Yoon Suk Yeol was ousted for declaring martial law. The opposition argued that Han had actively participated in Yoon’s insurrection and violated his duty to uphold the law by avoiding investigations.
