‘There are lots of meetings like that’: Kiev confirms ‘secret’ meeting with NATO generals

Ukraine has confirmed a report about a “secret” meeting between Kiev military’s commander-in-chief, General Valery Zaluzhny, and NATO commanders, revealing that there are lots of similar meetings being held between the two sides.

Mikhail Podoliak, a senior adviser to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, said Zaluzhny and his NATO handlers have held numerous meetings like the recent “secret” meeting between them earlier this month.

The Guardian reported on Saturday that “some of the most senior soldiers in the NATO alliance traveled to a secret location on the Polish-Ukrainian border” eleven days ago to meet with Zaluzhny and “his entire command team.”

“There are a lot of meetings like that,” Podoliak told a Ukrainian TV channel on Saturday, RT reported. According to Podoliak, Kiev’s military strategy stays “flexible,” evolving in accordance with the situation on the ground.

“The General Staff is constantly making adjustments, depending on what is happening on the front line,” the adviser said. “Obviously, these adjustments are always being discussed with our partners in order to actualize the deliveries of additional [weapons].”

In the meantime, the commander-in-chief of Kiev’s armed forces has been haggling behind the scenes to receive more advanced Western weapons and munitions to implement a new strategy and tactics in Ukraine’s counteroffensive.

“American military officials have been urging the Ukrainians to return to the combined arms training they received at allied bases in Europe by concentrating their forces to try to bust through Russia's defenses and push to the Sea of Azov,” reads an article in the Wall Street Journal.

The US military advice is based on the calculation that the surge of weapons the US has funneled to Ukraine is enough for this offensive and is unlikely to be repeated at anywhere near the same level in 2024.

Kiev has already received tens of billions of dollars worth of weapons and munitions to fight Russian troops since it launched its “special military operation” in Ukraine in February 2022.

Especially ahead of the much-anticipated Ukrainian counteroffensive, which was launched in early June and has so far failed to gain any military victory, Kiev was provided with a huge supply of arms including tanks, rocket systems, drones, armored vehicles, tanks, and communication systems by the US-led NATO countries.

The ex-Soviet republic is now waiting to receive US-made F-16 warplanes, which Kiev claims are vital to gain victory over Russian troops.

Western countries have also imposed a slew of economic sanctions on Moscow. The Kremlin has repeatedly warned that flooding Ukraine with weapons and slapping anti-Moscow sanctions will only prolong the war.
