Iran condemns terrorist attack at school in Uganda

Iran has condemned an attack on a secondary school in western Uganda which left several students killed and injured.

In a Telegram message on Sunday, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kan’ani expressed condolences to the Ugandan government, nation and the bereaved.

The attack was carried out on Saturday by the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), a Ugandan group based in neighboring Congo and affiliated to the Daesh Takfiri terrorist group. At least 40 students were killed.

Kan’ani said the horrible act of terrorism in Uganda is a cause for concern. He said the barbaric attack demonstrated once again that terrorism and extremism threaten the world.

The official also urged the international community and relevant bodies to effectively cooperate in fighting terror.

He expressed hope that the struggle against terrorism and extremism would bring peace and stability across the world, not least Africa.
