Warning against confrontation

Iran's president says the Islamic Republic is willing to maintain and develop good and constructive relations with the world, including Europe. Ebrahim Raeisi made the remarks in a phone call with Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo. He said Iran is willing to settle differences with other countries through cooperation, if they also choose a similar approach. Iran's president warned that any government choosing confrontation with Iran based on erroneous and misleading information provided by terrorist and mercenary groups will lose. He also expressed concern about some European countries’ support for terrorist and Islamophobic moves. Raeisi said European countries must not be the origin of plots and threats against the interests of the Iranian nation.

JCPOA revival attempts

Diplomatic efforts to revive the 2015 Iran deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action or JCPOA, have been in limbo since September last year. Iran blames unilateral withdrawal of the US from the deal for the current stalemate in the JCPOA revival talks. In an interview with CNN, Iran’s foreign minister said the US should stop its deceptive behavior and adopt a constructive approach if it wants to return to the agreement. Hossein Amir-Abdollahian warned that the window for restoring the accord is still open, but will not remain open forever.

Israeli crimes

Another Palestinian youth has succumbed to injuries suffered during an Israeli raid on the occupied West Bank city of Jericho, also known as Ariha. According to Palestinian Health Ministry, 22-year-old Mahmoud Jamal Hamdan was critically wounded during an attack on a refugee camp by Israeli forces. Witnesses said Hamdan was being treated by Palestinian medics, but Israeli soldiers halted treatment and took him to a military jeep. Several other Palestinians were arrested during the raid. Israel has practically sealed off Jericho following a shooting attack on a highway outside the city that left an Israeli soldier dead. The regime claims Hamdan was involved in the attack. Israeli forces have killed at least 66 Palestinians since the start of the year.
