Iran parliament speaker commends Islamic Jihad on victory in latest Gaza war

Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf

Iranian parliament speaker Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf has commended the Palestinian resistance group Islamic Jihad on achieving an honorable victory in the latest confrontation with the Israeli regime.

Qalibaf made the remarks on Wednesday during a telephone call with the Palestinian Islamic Jihad Secretary General Ziad al-Nakhala.

He hailed the Gaza-based resistance group as one of the “most effective” resistance movements fighting the apartheid Israeli regime.

The remarks came after the movement rained hundreds of rockets in response to the Israeli regime’s unprovoked and indiscriminate aggression that killed dozens of civilians and assassination two of the Islamic Jihad commanders.

The counterattack forced the Israeli regime to seek a truce with the movement, on the condition of releasing two of the resistance group's prisoners.

Iran's parliament speaker expressed condolences with Nakhala over the martyrdom of the group’s commanders while commending it for its victory in the face of the occupying regime.

“The Islamic Republic has stood by the Palestinian nation and the Palestinian Islamic resistance under all circumstances and with all its might,” the top parliamentarian asserted.

The resistance leader, for his part, expressed gratitude to the Islamic Republic for his unwavering support of the Palestinian nation’s resistance against the Zionist regime.

Addressing the issue of the resistance’s defensive operations during the Israeli regime’s recent deadly incursion into Gaza, Nakhala said the Zionist regime "was forced to request a ceasefire and accept the Islamic Jihad’s conditions.”

He also noted how the resistance’s retaliatory rockets delivered blows to the occupying regime “in the depth of the occupied territories".

"The Islamic Jihad showed during the recent battle that it can withstand a great and drawn-out war with the occupying regime and deliver heavy blows to them (the Zionists)," he said in the call.

Nakhala was in Iran when the Israeli regime launched its airstrikes on Gaza. He held a series of meetings with top Iranian officials. including President Ebrahim Raeisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, and others.
