2.3 million children under the age of five are estimated to be suffering from acute malnutrition, including 400,000 who could starve to death if they don't receive urgent treatment and humanitarian aid, according to four UN agencies.

Twenty-two percent is the increase rate of acute malnutrition from last year's figures, which is the highest level, recorded since the beginning of the Saudi-led war in 2015. The UN agencies said a lack of funds was hampering humanitarian programs in Yemen, urging donor nations to commit to their obligations.

Yemen is on the brink of famine and facing the world's worst humanitarian crisis, according to the United Nations since the Saudi-led coalition launched a devastating war on the impoverished country some six years ago.

Despite the catastrophic humanitarian situation in the country, some believe that the UN agencies' reports are aimed at pushing more countries to donate and fulfill their programs rather than saving the lives of the Yemeni children.
