Iranian sportsman Mohammad J’afar Moradi has overcome his opponents at Beirut Half Marathon in Lebanon, and stood atop the podium at the end of the international sporting event to claim the gold medal.
He ran a distance of 21.1 kilometers (13.1 miles) on Sunday, and sprinted across the finish line in 1:08:04.
Moradi was followed by Jordanian runner Ahmad Sammour, who ran 1:08:49 to win the silver medal.
Uganda’s Ismail Ssenyange notched a third-place finish with a time of 1:11:49, and had to settle for the bronze.
Hundreds of amateurs and professional runners from various world countries took part in Beirut Half Marathon in Lebanon on November 12, 2017.
A half marathon is a road running event of 21.0975 kilometers (13.1094 miles), which is half the distance of a conventional marathon.
Participation in half marathons has grown increasingly popular since 2003, partly because the race does not require the same level of training that a marathon does.
