War could reach your own doorsteps: Iraqi anti-terror group warns Iran’s enemies

Sheikh Akram al-Ka’abi, secretary-general of Iraq’s Harakat al-Nujaba anti-terror group

The secretary-general of Iraq’s Harakat al-Nujaba anti-terror group has warned Iran’s adversaries about the inevitably far-reaching consequences of any fresh aggression they could stage against the Islamic Republic.

Lebanon’s al-Ahed network cited Sheikh Akram al-Ka’abi on Wednesday as saying that any new US-Israeli military aggression against Iran would widen the scope of confrontation in the West Asia region, stressing that if war were to begin, the side that starts it would not be able to end it.

He said such an attack would ignite the region and draw a response whose repercussions could extend beyond the battlefield. “The revenge of this war will be passed down from generation to generation and could reach the countries and homes of the aggressors, with no one being spared,” the official said.

Al-Ka’abi underlined that such an attack would not go unanswered, pointing to Iran’s support for Iraq during the Arab country’s fight against the Daesh Takfiri terrorist group, and saying that the Iraqi people would not forget those who stood by them in difficult times.

“The Iraqi people, as a people rooted in tribal values, will not remain indifferent towards friends who stood by them in times of hardship and shed blood in the fight against terrorism and Takfir,” he said.

The remarks came amid similar warnings from other anti-terror and resistance figures around the region. Firas al-Yasser, a member of al-Nujaba’s Political Bureau, said earlier that any action against the Islamic Republic would push the region towards a broader confrontation encompassing Iraq and the Persian Gulf states.

“These groups will not wait for the fire of the conflict to be drawn into Iraqi territory; rather, from the very first moments of any attack on Iran, they will take part in the response,” al-Yasser said.

In a separate speech, Secretary-General of Lebanon’s Hezbollah resistance movement, Sheikh Naim Qassem warned that a war against Iran could set the entire region ablaze, while stressing opposition to any action that would facilitate such atrocity.

The warnings were issued amid heightened rhetoric from Trump, and reactions from Iranian officials, including senior commanders of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), who have underlined that the Islamic Republic was prepared to respond decisively to any hostile action against the country.
