Iran’s national junior water polo team has defeated Serbia at the Singapore Water Polo Challenge to clinch the title at the conclusion of the international sporting event.
On Sunday, the Iranian squad, which had overcome Australia’s University of New South Wales Magpies 9-7 the previous day to book a berth in the final showdown, first drew 7-7 with the Southeast European side at the OCBC Aquatic Centre.
The Persians beat the Serbian team 16-15 in the penalty shootout afterward.
Meanwhile, Singapore men's national water polo team edged out Argentina’s University of New South Wales 7-6 to finish
The victory saw the hosts taste their first victory in the tournament, having narrowly lost their previous three matches.
The Singapore Water Polo Challenge Cup kicked off on June 8 and ran through June 11, 2017.
Iran’s national junior water polo team, the Singaporean national men’s water polo squad, Serbia and Australia’s University of New South Wales Magpies had taken part in the event.
