- Syria’s UN envoy slams the double standards of some countries in dealing with terrorist groups. Bashar Ja’afari made the remarks during the Security Council’s session to discuss the situation in the Middle East. Earlier this month, the US, Britain and France blocked attempts by Russia to blacklist several Takfiri terrorist groups.
- A new report says the United States has quietly placed a hold on sending cluster bombs to Saudi Arabia which has used them in its aggression against Yemen. Foreign Policy has cited US officials as saying that Washington has scaled back the export of cluster bombs under pressure from rights groups.
- Days ahead of the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan, Muslims in Washington DC hand out roses to fellow Americans. The peaceful gesture is made at a time when anti-Muslim bigotry is on the rise in the US, and terrorists are continuously committing acts of crime in the name of Islam.
- Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman says Riyadh is the biggest supporter of extremism and terrorism. Hossein Jaberi-Ansari rejected the Saudi foreign minister's claim that Iran is interfering in Iraq's internal affairs. He added that Iranian military advisors are in Iraq on an official request from Baghdad to help the Iraqi forces fighting terrorists.
- Pakistanis have staged nationwide rallies against US drone attacks in their country. The protesters condemned the strikes for causing civilian casualties and urged the Pakistani government to take action. They also slammed what they called the violation of Pakistan's sovereignty by US drones.
- Russian President Vladimir Putin says Moscow has been left with no choice but to retaliate over the US missile systems being deployed in Eastern Europe.
