UN says Yemen key infrastructure on verge of collapse due to major fuel shortage
The UN is warning that Yemen will come to a complete standstill, if fuel and food are not brought to the war-torn country in the next few days.
The UN humanitarian coordinator for Yemen says a major fuel shortage is affecting key infrastructure in the country. Water supplies, health services and telecommunications are on the verge of collapse. He says, an arms embargo is also impacting the delivery of humanitarian supplies. Last month, the U-N Security Council imposed an arms embargo on Houthis. They are part of Ansarullah movement which Saudi Arabia says is the target of its ongoing airstrikes against Yemen. On the ground, however, the aerial attacks have hit infrastructure and civilian areas since they began more than a month ago.
