Two members of the Daesh Takfiri terrorist group, who were convicted of plotting to carry out acts of terror and armed rebellion against the Islamic Republic, have been executed after their death sentences were upheld by the Supreme Court of Iran.

Mohyeddin Abdollahi and Hossein Palani, identified as members of a Daesh terror cell that formed after the group’s collapse in Iraq and Syria and had planned attacks inside Iran, were hanged on Tuesday, July 14, following the completion of legal procedures and the confirmation of their sentences by Iran’s top tribunal.

Iranian security and intelligence forces detected the cell’s hideout in the Bamo mountainous area on the border between Iraq’s semi-autonomous Kurdistan region and Iraq, and dealt a sharp blow to the terrorists.

Several militants were killed in the fierce exchange of fire, and three Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) servicemen were martyred.

The remaining Daesh terrorists were captured, and a considerable number of weapons, munitions, equipment and confidential documents were seized.

Following legal proceedings, including defense submissions from the accused and their lawyers, the court convicted the two individuals of armed rebellion against the Islamic Republic of Iran, and sentenced them to death.

The Supreme Court later reviewed and upheld the sentences, and the executions were carried out after all legal procedures were completed.
