Israel expands Syrian invasion by entering new areas in Quneitra

The Israeli regime enters villages in Syria’s Quneitra region, erecting a checkpoint in the area.

The Israeli regime has expanded its invasion of Syria by entering areas in the Quneitra governorate in the southwest of the country.

The Lebanon-based Al-Mayadeen TV said in a Saturday report that Israeli forces had entered the village of Al-Samadaniyah in the Quneitra countryside earlier in the morning.

The report said Israeli forces had erected a checkpoint in Samadaniyah to cement their control over the village and its surrounding regions.

The invasion comes a day after Israeli forces occupied an area between the villages of Sisun and Jamlah in the western countryside of the governorate of Daraa in southwest Syria.

The regime forces swiftly began harassing locals by imposing restrictions on movement.

Israel has taken advantage of the security vacuum in Syria since the fall of Bashar al-Assad's government in December 2024 to make territorial gains in the Arab country.

The regime has carried out heavy bombardments on defense and air force facilities in Syria while expanding its occupation in Quneitra and Daraa. It has also occupied areas in southern Syria, including the strategic heights of Mount Hermon, a region also known as Jabal al-Sheikh, which straddles the border between Syria, Lebanon and the Israeli-occupied Palestine.

Israel has also repeatedly violated the airspace of Syria in the countryside near the capital Damascus and in Suwayda, near the border with Jordan.

That comes as Israel has kept Syria's Golan Heights under occupation since the 1967 war with the Arabs.

Experts believe the Israeli regime is seeking to expand its occupation in Syria to finally annex more parts of the Arab country.
