The head of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) says the measures taken by the former secretary of the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC), Ali Larijani, in support of the Islamic establishment will always be remembered.

Peyman Jebelli made the remarks at Tehran’s Belal Mosque on Monday, during a memorial ceremony for Larijani, who the United States and Israel assassinated during the recent illegal war of aggression.

“Martyr Larijani was a companion of the [Islamic] Revolution in all areas, and his services and actions were immortalized in the IRIB, the Iranian Parliament, and the SNSC,” Jebelli said.

“With Martyr Larijani, we understood the meaning of media at the level of the Revolution, and this path will be our model and guiding light.”

Throughout his life, Larijani held various positions, including serving as head of the IRIB from 1994 to 2004 and as Speaker of the Parliament between 2008 and 2020.

Jebelli praised Larijani’s courage in defending the Islamic Revolution, saying, “Today, we are reaping the fruits of the work he did for the national media.”

Larijani was martyred along with his son in Tehran on March 17.

At that time, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei described Larijani as a well-aware, far-sighted, vigilant, and committed person with experience in political, military, security, cultural, and managerial fields.

The unprovoked US-Israeli aggression began on February 28 with airstrikes that assassinated senior Iranian officials and commanders.

The Iranian armed forces unleashed 100 waves of decisively successful retaliatory strikes against sensitive and strategic American and Israeli targets throughout the region.

On April 8, forty days into the war, an Islamabad-brokered temporary ceasefire went into effect. However, the first round of Tehran-Washington negotiations failed to reach an agreement.

The United States unilaterally extended the truce after its expiry, but imposed an inhumane “naval blockade” of Iran.

Tehran has refrained from committing to a second round of talks, with authorities citing Washington’s excessive demands and piracy against Iranian ships as two main impediments to concluding the war.
