Qatar University professor Mohammed Al-Mesfer has expressed surprise at the muted response of Arab states to the Israeli-American war of aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran, criticizing the absence of a clear and unified position.
In remarks to Al Jazeera Mubasher on Saturday, Al-Mesfer noted that many Arab governments refrained from issuing firm statements denouncing the attacks, despite the fact that it was the Israeli regime with the United States that initiated the aggression.
He stressed that this reality should have been clearly reflected in official Arab positions.
The political science professor noted that the lack of condemnation from Arab states raises serious questions about the independence of their decision-making and reflects a broader hesitation to confront Israeli aggression in the region.
Al-Mesfer warned that such silence over Israeli actions could embolden further escalation, undermining regional stability at a time of heightened tensions.
He also emphasized that failing to adopt a principled stance – especially in the context of Iran – risks encouraging continued violations and deepening regional instability.

Calling for a shift in approach, Al-Mesfer urged Arab countries to adopt a more balanced and consistent position, particularly in response to violations of sovereignty and attacks on the country’s civilian infrastructure.
His remarks came as the Israeli-American war of aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran continues to take a heavy toll on civilian lives and civilian infrastructure.
The aggression started with the assassination of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, top-ranking commanders and civilians, including over 170 schoolchildren in southern Iran’s Minab city.
In response, Iranian armed forces have so far carried out 86 waves of missile and drone strikes with advanced weaponry targeting Israeli military facilities in the occupied territories, as well as US occupation bases and assets scattered across the West Asia region.
Iran had previously warned the regional countries against allowing their soil or airspace to be used by hostile external powers for any act of aggression against the country.
Iranian armed forces maintain that they have only targeted US military bases and assets in the Persian Gulf Arab countries, not their host countries.
