At least 31 killed in Israeli aggression on southern Lebanon after Hezbollah strikes

Israeli military attacked several south Lebanese villages early on Monday after Hezbollah's retaliatory strikes.

At least 31 people, most of them women and children, were killed in attacks by Israel across southern Lebanon following Hezbollah’s entry into the front line in defense of Iran.

In the Al‑Sultaniyeh area, four people—including two children and a woman—were killed.

In the Al‑Shahabiyeh area, three women lost their lives.

The towns of Aitaroun and Aita al‑Shaab were also struck by artillery.

In South Dahieh, 20 civilians were killed and 91 were injured.

According to Lebanon's Health Ministry, at least 149 civilians were injured in the attacks.

The figures are preliminary and may rise.

The attacks targeted residential buildings from the air and sea without prior warning.

Israel ordered residents of more than 50 villages and towns in eastern and southern Lebanon to evacuate immediately and stay at least one kilometer away from Hezbollah‑controlled infrastructure.

Areas cited include Srifa, Ma‘roub, Selaa (Sour), Dab‘al, Bafliyeh, Barish, Arzoun, Qlaileh, Al-Shahabiyeh, Dardghaya, Bastiyat, Arab Salim, Hosh al-Rafika, and Yohmor (Western Bekaa), among several others.

The Israeli army claimed the strikes were a response to rockets fired by Hezbollah toward northern occupied Palestine and warned that further attacks would continue in the coming days.

Earlier on Monday, Hezbollah said in a statement that it hit the Israeli missile site at Al‑Karmel near Haifa with several rockets and drones, stating that the operation is a retaliation for the assassination of the martyr Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and defending Lebanon against repeated Israeli aggression.
