Trump defends ice killing

The killing of a woman by a US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent in Minneapolis has sparked protests in several cities across the United States. Thousands of protesters took to the frigid streets of Minneapolis, holding signs that called on ICE agents to leave their city as they held a vigil to honor the 37-year-old victim. Demonstrators also slammed President Donald Trump’s nationwide crackdown on migrants. Some of the protests near the scene were met by heavily armed federal agents wearing gas masks. Footage shared online captured moment when a dark-colored SUV attempting to speed away as an ICE officer starts shooting, before the vehicle came to a stop at the roadside.

US abduction of Venezuelan president

Venezuela’s interior minister says one-hundred people were killed during the US attack on the country and the abduction of President Nicolas Maduro and his wife. The minister said the president was wounded in his leg and his wife, Cilia Flores, suffered a head injury during the aggression. Cabello also praised interim president Delcy Rodriquez as courageous. Caracas has not previously released casualty figures, though the army announced at least 24 of its security officials were killed. Cuba's government also confirmed more than 30 of its military and police officers working in Venezuela lost their lives in the strikes. Maduro and his wife were kidnapped in a US military operation in Caracas early Saturday and flown to New York. Venezuelan officials and the people condemned the move as violation of international law, calling for his immediate release.

Gaza ceasefire violations

Israeli forces have carried out fresh violations of the ceasefire agreement with Hamas, killing more civilians in the Gaza Strip. An 11-year-old child was shot dead by occupation forces in the Jabalia refugee camp. A Palestinian child was also injured after Israeli soldiers opened fire on a group of civilians in Gaza City's Zeitoun neighborhood. Meanwhile, Gaza’s governmental media office has slammed the Israeli regime for refusal to open the Rafah crossing, saying that the regime is using flimsy pretexts to keep the essential lifeline closed and perpetrate the siege. It noted that more than 80-thousand Palestinians abroad have applied to return to Gaza, but the occupation is obstructing their entry. Israel began its genocidal war on Gaza in October 2023. Nearly 71,400 people, mostly women and children have been killed since then.
