The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has strongly condemned Israel’s closure of the Union of Agricultural Work Committees (UAWC) following a raid in el-Bireh city in the occupied West Bank.

In a statement on Tuesday, the ministry described the action as “part of a systematic policy aimed at undermining civil and developmental work” in the occupied Palestinian territory.

Israeli forces ordered the closure of the UAWC office in el-Bireh after storming the site on Monday.

The ministry stated that the Israeli action violated international law protecting local institutions and humanitarian workers.

The ministry further stressed that Israel has “no sovereignty over our land”, pointing to last year’s advisory opinion from the International Court of Justice (ICJ), which stated that Israel’s continued presence in the occupied Palestinian territory is unlawful and must end “as rapidly as possible.”

The Israeli army has escalated its attacks in the occupied West Bank since October 2023, when it launched a genocidal war on the besieged Gaza Strip.

At least two Palestinians were killed by the regime's forces on Tuesday in the occupied West Bank, after the army claimed they had carried out "car-ramming and stabbing attacks."

Some media reports indicated that a child was among those killed in the deadly raid.

In just over two years, Israeli forces and extremist settlers in the occupied West Bank have killed more than 1,085 Palestinians and injured 10,700. Nearly 20,500 others have also been arrested during this period.
