Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is scheduled to pay an official visit to Oman and the Netherlands next week.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said on Friday that Araghchi will set off for Oman on Monday to participate in the Muscat Forum.
He added that the Iranian foreign minister will also hold bilateral discussions with his Omani counterpart.
According to the Iranian spokesperson, Araghchi will travel to the Netherlands on Tuesday to attend the annual conference of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) in The Hague.
The 30th Session of the Conference of the States Parties will take place on 24–28 November 2025 at the World Forum in The Hague. The annual meeting oversees the implementation of the Chemical Weapons Convention.
It reviews compliance with the treaty and promotes the Convention’s objectives. All OPCW Member States participate, and each delegation holds one vote.
Iran was one of the main victims of chemical weapons during the 1980–1988 war imposed by former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein. Iraqi forces carried out repeated attacks using Western-supplied mustard gas and nerve agents on both military positions and civilian areas, including the widely documented 1988 Halabja attack.
Tens of thousands of Iranians were exposed, with many suffering long-term respiratory, ocular, and skin damage. The continued medical needs of survivors remain one of the lasting consequences of the conflict.
