Emami, Azarpira, Zare cap Iran’s campaign with triple gold at Islamic Solidarity Games

Iran’s freestyle wrestlers delivered a dominant finish on Friday, the final night of the 2025 Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh, winning three gold medals while not even conceding a point in any of their finals.

Younes Emami (74 kg), Amirali Azarpira (97 kg) and Amir Hossein Zare (125 kg) each won decisively to close out Iran’s campaign.

Emami defeated Azerbaijan’s Aghanazar Novruzov 5–0 to claim gold in the 74 kg final. Azarpira shut out Kazakhstan’s Rizabek Aitmukhan 5–0 in the 97 kg division.

World champion Zare powered past Bahrain’s Shamil Sharipov with a commanding 10–0 victory in the 125 kg class.

Earlier in the day, Kamran Ghasempour also clinched a bronze in the 86 kg weight, beating Tajikistan’s Magomet Evloev 8–0.

On Thursday, Iran’s Rahman Amouzad earned a decisive 12-2 victory over Tajikistan’s Abdulmazhid Kudiev to claim the gold medal in the 65kg category.

The triple gold haul on the final night helped seal Iran’s third rank in the medal table. Iranian athletes earned a total of 29 gold, 19 silver, and 33 bronze medals, landing third overall behind Turkey and Uzbekistan.

The 6th edition of the Islamic Solidarity Games, organized by the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation, brought together over 3,000 athletes from 57 nations competing across 25 sports.
