Israel Lebanon aggression
The Israeli regime has carried out more airstrikes on southern Lebanon in blatant violations of the ceasefire agreement with the Arab country. An Israeli drone targeted a car in the town of Al-Teeri, killing one and injuring eleven. The regime also struck several other villages in southern Lebanon after issuing warnings, telling residents to evacuate immediately. The recent attacks follow an Israeli strike hours earlier on the Ain al-Hilweh Palestinian refugee camp near Sidon, where at least fourteen individuals lost their lives when three missiles struck a mini football stadium, and rescue operations are still in progress. Since the ceasefire in November, over three hundred Lebanese individuals have been killed.
Gaza water crisis
Hundreds of thousands of displaced Palestinians in Gaza are facing a silent but life-threatening crisis: the near-total collapse of access to water. Israeli bombardment and blockade have destroyed infrastructure, pushing Gaza’s water system to the brink.
IAEA-Iran relations
IAEA Chief Rafael Grossi says the agency remains in constant contact with Iran and is continuing efforts to return to what he calls “normal verification.” Speaking ahead of the agency's Board of Governors meeting, Grossi confirmed that inspectors have already returned to Iran and conducted checks at facilities unaffected by the US-Israeli attacks in June. He emphasized that the agency is not asking any member state to draft a resolution, insisting the focus should remain on the IAEA’s core mandate under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and its safeguards system. Grossi described Iran’s decision to remain within the NPT framework as “wise,” adding that he expects cooperation between the two sides to continue. Grossi also noted that if the Board of Governors chooses to adopt a resolution, the agency will implement it as instructed. He added that the IAEA must account for Iran’s newly passed law governing inspection procedures as work moves forward. Earlier, Iran’s mission in Vienna said the US and three European states are seeking to politicize the Board of Governors with a planned resolution, warning it would inevitably harm Iran–IAEA cooperation if adopted.
